Almaty. October 16. Silkroadnews - China and Iran will take part in the construction of a fourth refinery in the Mangistau region, writes the local newspaper "Ak Zhayik" referring to the deputy akim of the Mangistau region Rakymbek Amirzhanov.
R.Amirzhanov considers that the construction of the Kazakh oil refinery is very profitable.
One of advantages is the presence of oil reserves.
Futhermore, another market for oil products of a new refinery could be Uzbekistan, which is also experiencing a shortage of oil products. R.Amirzhanov recalled that the construction of a fourth refinery in the Mangistau region was risen in the years of the USSR.
As for the fourth refinery capacity, the future partners in this respect have different opinions. According to the deputy governor, the Chinese side proposes a project with a capacity of 6 million tons per year, and the Iranians are talking about 10-12 million tons of oil. At the same time approximate amount of investments of the Chinese company reach $5 billion.
Recall, now Kazakhstan has three major oil refineries: in Pavlodar, Shymkent and Atyrau.
