Almaty. March 9. Silkroadnews - China and Russia have agreed on the key technical characteristics of the heavy helicopter jointly built, the Chinese media informs.
“Recently China and Russia held 7th round of negotiations on the heavy helicopter joint project, the parties agreed on the relevant key technical characteristics,” – the publication said with the reference to the NPC deputy, chairman of the board of AVIC helicopter unit, Yu Feng.
“The joint work of China and Russia over the heavy helicopter development shall contribute to the cooperation between the helicopter industries as a whole, thus, strengthen the capacity of China’s helicopter industry, comprehensively enhance the market competitiveness of the Chinese helicopters, contribute to the promotion of the Chinese helicopters in the domestic market and in the development of international markets,” - said Yu Feng.
According to him, the heavy helicopter development shall also improve the range of Chinese helicopters, fill the gaps China has in this sector, allow China entering the number of a few major helicopter powers with a range of helicopters.
Earlier it was reported that the heavy helicopter joint development is a strategic cooperation project of two countries. On May 8, 2015, AVIC and “Russian Helicopters” jointly signed a framework agreement on cooperation in the long-term heavy helicopter project. At the moment the project goes as scheduled due to the joint support of the parties.
Maximum gross weight of the helicopter is 38.2 tons, maximum cruising speed - 300 km/h, operating limit - 5700 m, range - 630 km. The helicopter has a high load-carrying capacity, large interior space, component parts flexibility other features. The helicopter is suitable for tasks in large-scale rescue operations, vehicles transportation, transportation during firefighting operations, is able to meet the market demand for equipment for rescue and disaster management, large equipment transportation and other purposes.
