Beijing. February 8. Silkroadnews - China announced new demonstration projects for public-private partnership, Ecns.cn portal reported.
“China’s Ministry of Finance Tuesday published details of new public-private partnership (PPP) demonstration projects, with a total investment of 758.8 billion yuan (around 125 billion U.S. dollars),” the report said.
This is the fourth round of such investments since 2014, as the country is trying to stimulate social capital to support the economic growth.
396 projects have been approved in such areas as the high-speed road for the new Beijing airport, affordable housing, transport, education, technology, tourism, energy and agriculture.
PPP is a joint project between public and private companies. To date, the government has published details of demonstration projects with a total investment of 2.77 trillion yuan.
The Chinese authorities have been studying the financing of infrastructure and public works through PPP models starting from the end of 2013 amid growing concerns about increase in local government debt.
