Beijing. May 3. Silkroadnews - According to a survey by a polling firm IPSOS, China’s influence in Kenya, as the most significant partner in East Africa, has for the first time surpassed the influence of the United States, People’s Daily Online reports.
IPSOS conducted a survey among 2003 respondents in Kenya. 34% of them believe the relationship between Kenya and China is the most important bilateral relationship. The United States holds the second place - 26%, followed by South Africa - 5%, and the United Kingdom - 4%.
IPSOS suggests that this is mainly due to China’s contribution to the economic construction and social development of Kenya.
The statement of the Chinese embassy in Nairobi says that China attaches great importance to the development of its relations with Kenya. It notes that China’s Belt and Road Initiative creates a large number of joint projects in Africa to contribute to the economic and social development of Kenya, creating numerous jobs.
