China could become the first country to build a solar power station in space
Almaty. November 3. Silkroadnews - China could become the first country to build a solar power plant in space, China Daily reported.
“China is expected to be the world’s first country to build a practical solar power station in space, as long as it keeps investing in research and development, according to Li Ming, a research fellow from China Academy of Space Technology,” the report reads.
It is noted that compared to fossil fuels, which cause serious pollution of the environment and will soon be exhausted, space solar energy is more efficient, clean and sustainable. A space solar power plant can generate massive energy and transmit it to Earth, which is much more efficient than ground-based solar or wind power facilities, which are affected by natural factors.
The United States, Japan and Russia have made huge investments in this area, the space departments of India, South Korea and Europe are also conducting related researches.
It is reported that China has undertaken the research of space solar power since 2008, with a number of major breakthroughs in wireless energy transmission achieved. Both home and foreign experts are confident that China will play a leading role in this area. In addition to technology, the construction of a space solar power station also requires huge investment and support from the government.
