China has adopted a plan of action to combat water pollution

Almaty. April 16. Silkroadnews - China's State Council on Thursday published an Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution, reported Xinhua news agency.
According to information, the plan contains 238 specific measures, including 136 measures to improve and strengthen the process, 12 research and 90 innovation activitities.
According to the plan, by 2020, the quality of the aquatic environment in the country should be gradually improved, the amount of seriously polluted water significantly reduced, the level of provision of safe drinking water increased, over-extraction of groundwater brought under strict control, the trend of worsening of groundwater pollution is kept.
By 2030, the quality of the aquatic environment as a whole will be better, and by the middle of this century is expected to improve the comprehensive functions of aquatic ecosystems.
According to the plan, by 2020, the quality of more than 70 percent of water in the basins of major rivers, including the Yangtze, Huanhe, Chzhutsian, Songhuatsian (Sungari), Huaihe, Haihe and Liaohe rivers will reach "good" or "excellent" level.
To achieve these goals the plan includes measures in 10 areas, including a comprehensive monitoring of pollutant emissions, promote the transformation of the economic structure, strengthening the conservation and protection of water resources, strengthening scientific and technical support, identifying the role of the market mechanism, strengthening control over the implementation of laws to protect the environment etc.
