Beijing. June 1. Silkroadnews - China has completed the construction of the Tibet Museum for Intangible Cultural Heritage that lasted for nearly two years, Tibet Online reports.
Investments in the construction of the museum amounted to 120 million yuan. In the second half of 2018 the museum, as expected, will be opened for visitors.
The museum is located on the south of the Lhasa River and covers an area of 40,000 square meters at an altitude of 3,750 meters above sea level. The area of five floors of the museum’s main building is 8000 square meters. The museum’s design is based on the style of the Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple and integrates the features of traditional Tibetan construction and modern building.
The museum will feature hundreds of Tibetan intangible cultural objects, such as Gesar singing, Tibetan opera and Thangka paintings, and show the art craftsmanship of some intangible cultural heritages. It is expected that this museum will become a platform for citizens and tourists interested in learning and experiencing the Tibetan cultural heritage.
