Beijing. March 13. Silkroadnews - China has completed the development of a Mars probe, which is now being tested before the planned launch in 2020, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.
The Chinese mission to explore Mars includes realizing three goals of encirclement, landing and patrol. The high speed of the landing on Mars was one of the thorniest issues, as could result in probe burning up.
Earlier, the Xinhua news agency reported that the Mars probe will include six rovers to collect data on the environment, surface structure and the atmosphere of the planet. It will be launched into space by a heavy carrier rocket Long March 5.
According to Liu Zhirang, head of the Sixth Research Institute of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, 30% of China’s aerospace technology had already reached the world’s leading levels to further reach 60% level by 2030.
The Chinese government said in September it created a US$61 million “Mars village” serving as a hub simulating red planet conditions in the remote desert of Qinghai.
