Almaty. October 30. Silkroadnews - China will not recognize any judicial decision of the International Court of Arbitration in The Hague about the territorial ownership of the islands in the South China Sea, reported Xinhua news agency.
According to the media, Beijing and Manila claim to a number of islands in the South China Sea. These islands are also claimed by Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Brunei and Vietnam. The most intense is the situation around the Scarborough Reef and the Spratly archipelago, which is believed to be rich in oil and gas. In addition, the islands of the archipelago are of strategic importance: there is construction of runways, in which is actively engaged China, and which will significantly enhance China's position in the region.
China began to construct artificial islands in the disputed waters in June 2014. In October, the issue was joined by United States, giving the region a patrol mission.
