China invested $29.7 billion to help educate nearly 96 million students

Beijing. March 13. Silkroadnews - According to the Ministry of Education, in 2017 China has invested more than 188 billion yuan ($29.7 billion) to help 95.9 million students, aged from kindergarten to university, Xinhua reports.
The students of higher education institutions received support of 105 billion yuan, which is almost 10% increase versus a year ago, and more than 9 billion yuan was allocated to help children of preschool age, which is a 36.7% increase compared to last year.
The ministry’s report also says, China spent more than 20 billion yuan to provide free textbooks for 142 million students and 28.5 billion yuan to subsidize the education of students.
The government, at both the central and local levels, played a leading role in the educational assistance program, while enterprises, social groups, and individuals donated nearly 13 billion yuan, or 6.89%.
The educational aid program in China covers all levels of education, both public and private schools, as well as students with financial difficulties, which ensures that children from poor families can receive an education.
