Beijing. June 8. Silkroadnews - China offered the U.S. to buy the U.S. agricultural and energy products to the amount of about $70 billion, but only if Washington refuses its threat to impose tariffs on Chinese imports, Xinhua reports.
Chinese trade negotiators reportedly delivered a package of proposals to the U.S. delegation in Beijing last week, among them buying of more soybeans, corn, natural gas, crude oil and coal by the Chinese companies.
The Officials of China and the United States estimated the value of the package at nearly $70 billion.
The Chinese side made it clear to the U.S. delegation that the planned purchases will not take place in case the Trump administration continues its plan to introduce tariffs on $50 billion worth of Chinese imports.
Neither side has yet announced details, thus, the follow-up negotiations might be needed, the report reads.
To improve people’s lives, meet their growing needs and demand for high-quality economic development, China is ready to increase imports from other countries, including the United States, which will benefit the people of both countries and the world as a whole.
The results of the negotiations should be based on the prerequisite that the parties refuse to conduct a trade war.
