China launched another international cargo transportation route through Kazakhstan
Almaty. September 6. Silkroadnews – China has launched an international cargo transportation route through Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Telegraph Agency (KazTAG) reports.
The first transportation on the new rail freight route connecting the city of Yinchuan, the administrative center of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region (AR), northwest China and Tehran started from Yinchuan South Station on September 5, report said.
The trains will depart from Yinchuan, leave China through the customs point of Khorgos, pass through the territory of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, and arrive in the Iranian capital Tehran.
50 railway containers transport technical equipment, consumer goods, ceramic housewares, crystalwares and other goods from Ningxia Hui AR, Hebei, Shandong and Jiangsu provinces, the total weight of the cargo reaches 567 tonnes to amount of around $1.6 million, publication states.
The trains will cover the 8243-km long route in about 15 days, which is more than 20 days’ economy of time compared to transportation along the sea route, thus, a reduction in logistics costs.
China’s bilateral trade with the countries of Central and West Asia, through which the route passes, is exceeds $230 billion.
As noted, the new route is expected to optimize costs and contribute to development of trade and economic cooperation between the countries.
