China ranks 17th on the national innovation index

Almaty. August 22. Silkroadnews – China ranks 17th on the national innovation index, “People’s Daily” reported.
China has surpassed Belgium and rose to 17th place on the national innovation index among 40 countries ranked. Last year China took 16th place surpassing Australia. The world situation with the national innovation potential has mainly stabilized, the national innovation index report 2016-2017 by the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development said.
It is noted that the improvement in China’s rating indicates a stable increase in the country's innovative potential and points to optimistic prospects for improving innovative capabilities.
As the publication explains, according to the analysis of the points scored by the countries, all 40 countries were divided into three groups. The first group includes 15 countries ranking the highest, these are mainly countries of Europe and America with developed economies, whose innovative potential is recognized in the world community. The second group includes countries ranking from 16th to 30th places. These 15 countries are mainly characterized by a high level of economic development, and includes only a few emerging economies. Within this group China ranks at the leading position. All the countries ranking below the 30th place are countries with developing economies.
