China refused to import plastic and paper waste

Almaty. July 19. Silkroadnews – China notified the World Trade Organization that it stops accepting plastic and paper waste, Reuters reports.
“We found that large amounts of dirty wastes or even hazardous wastes are mixed in the solid waste that can be used as raw materials. This polluted China’s environment seriously. To protect China's environmental interests and people's health, we urgently adjust the imported solid wastes list, and forbid the import of solid wastes that are highly polluted”, China’s WTO filling said, the agency reports.
It is reported that the ban on imports to enter into force by the end of 2017 also covers wastes of the steel industry and many other kinds. It is noted that China is a major importer of waste, in 2016 it imported 7.3 million tonnes of waste to the amount of $3.7 billion, which makes 56% of the world imports.
