Almaty. August 21. Silkroadnews – China relaunches the train running at a speed of 350 km/h, the Singapore “Today” reported.
“China is relaunching the world’s fastest bullet trains, running at 350kmh. The trains will service the route from Beijing to Shanghai starting in September, making the 1,250km journey in just four hours and 30 minutes. Other routes are being added”, report reads.
The Beijing-Shanghai route is called to be one of the most frequently used lines, which, since its opening in 2011, has transported nearly 600 million passengers. The line is also one of the most profitable in China, according to official data in 2015, it generated a profit of 6.6 billion yuan ($1.34 billion).
According to the publication, for the first time trains running at 350 km/h were launched in China in August 2008, but in 2011 their speed was cut to 250 km/h after a collision of two trains near the city of Wenzhou that left 40 people killed and 191 injured.
It is reported that China has laid more than 20,000 km of high-speed railways and intends to build another 10,000 km by 2020. To build the world’s largest network of high-speed railways China has spent around $360 billion.
