China’s demand for electricity to peak by 2040

Almaty. August 16. Silkroadnews – China’s demand for electricity is expected to reach a peak by 2040, Reuters reported.
China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) forecasts China’s energy consumption to reach a peak at 4.06 billion tonnes of oil equivalent by 2040, thus, setting a higher volume and a later date than previously expected, report says.
With this it is noted that in a study conducted last year showed a reading of 3.75 billion tonnes of oil equivalent.
According to the forecast, by 2030 the demand for oil in the world’s second largest economy can reach 690 million tonnes per year, which is comparable to last year’s forecast of 670 million tonnes per year by 2027.
