China’s Haier creates an innovation center in Tel Aviv

Almaty. October 25. Silkroadnews – China’s Haier creates an innovation center in Tel Aviv, The Times of Israel reported.
“Haier Electronics Group Co., Ltd., China’s largest home appliance maker, has opened its first innovation center in Israel, in Tel Aviv, to scout for local technologies to create “smart-home” products for the Chinese firm and boost its global expansion,” the report reads.
“The Haier Israel Innovation Center will focus on finding Israeli technologies for Haier product lines, and will be specifically looking at sensor technology, materials, chips, Internet of Things (IoT), smart homes, and energy innovation,” Haier said in a joint statement with Israeli Start-Up Nation Central, an NGO that connects companies and organizations to Israeli technology firms.
It is reported that Haier, founded in 1984 and headquartered in Quingdao, China, owns about 30% of the household appliance market in China. The company operates in more than 100 countries and has five research centers around the world.
The innovative center in Israel will be managed by Daniel Oleiski, who will become the general director, and Galit Jacobovitz, former director of strategic partnerships at Start-Up Nation Central.
Haier and Start-Up Nation Central also said they signed an agreement under which the NGO will help the Chinese home appliance manufacturer continue to explore the Israeli innovation system, while Haier will support Israeli innovators in search of opportunities in China.
