China’s Internet giant Tencent sued Jinri Toutian and Douyin for unfair competition

Beijing. June 4. Silkroadnews - China’s Internet giant Tencent announced it has sued the operators Jinri Toutiao and Douyin at the Haidian District People’ss Court in Beijing for unfair competition and suspended cooperation with these two companies accordingly, China Plus reported.
Jinri Toutiao is a news and information aggregator based on artificial intelligence. Douyin is a popular platform for sharing short videos.
Tencent accuses the operators of slander, publishing a large number of negative comments, articles and videos about the company on their platforms.
In the suit, Tencent demands two companies to cease unfair competition, publicly apologize in social networks and pay compensation of 1 yuan (about $0.15).
In response, the owner of Jinri Toutiao, Beijing Bytedance Technology Co. Ltd., filed a counterclaim against Tencent for unfair competition. It is reported that the rapid development of Jinri Toutiao and Douyin has led to intense competition in the market between companies, especially in the field of services for the exchange of short video.
