China’s population base will reach 1.45 billion people by 2030 – China’s Development Program

Almaty. January 27. Silkroadnews – China’s population base will reach 1.45 billion people by 2030, the newspaper “People’s Daily” writes.

“By 2020 the population of China will reach 1 billion 420 million people, and by 2030 this number is expected to increase up to 1 billion 450 million”, the publication says with reference to the National Population Development Plan 2016-2030 issued by China’s State Council.

According to the Plan, within the next few decades, particularly between 2021 and 2030, China’s population development will come at a turning point. The forecast predicts population growth to peak by around 2030, the number of working population will decline, while the aging of the population will accelerate.

The “plan” put forward the objective goal of “sustainable growth of urbanization among the resident population, rapid increase of urbanization of the population on a residence permit, as well as strengthening the capacities of people living in the major urban centers”. By 2030 the level of urbanization among the resident population is expected to reach 70%.

As for public education, according to the “plan” goals by 2030 the average number of years of education of the working population in China is expected to reach 11.8, which is a 1.57-year increase compared to 10.23 years in 2015.
