Beijing. February 15. Silkroadnews - China’s Prime Minister noted improvement in citizens’ well-being during inspection tour of the north-eastern province of Jilin ahead of the Spring Festival, “People’s Daily” newspaper reported.
Li made an inspection visit in Zhenlai country in Baicheng city, where he congratulated the local residents on the upcoming Lunar New Year.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the progress in social and economic development that was achieved in Jilin, calling for further work in this direction in the northeast industrial belt.
When visiting a disadvantaged village, Li talked with rural residents and encouraged them to seek more ways to increase incomes, while demanding authorities to take more targeted poverty relief measures, the report reads.
He said that e-commerce can make lives of farmers more convenient and help to better use the growth potential of consumption.
Li also visited a town of the slum, which is expected to be renovated, and demanded adequate help to those who have a hard time living.
He also met with migrant workers at a bus station and talked with street cleaners.
For Chinese leaders it has become a tradition to visit ordinary people across the country before the Spring Festival, the most important family holiday in the Chinese calendar.
This year, the Festival starts on February 16.
