Beijing. June 13. Silkroadnews - China’s drug regulator has approved the country’s first vaccine, which can protect people from four strains of the flu virus, China Plus reports.
According to the National Drug Administration of China, the four-strain vaccine adds protection against the Yamagata lineage of Influenza B, which was the main virus strain during the last flu season.
The approved manufacturers of vaccines are two Chinese companies - Hualan and Changsheng. The vaccine can be used for adults and children aged 3 years and above.
H1N1 and H3N2 of influenza A, as well as Victoria and Yamagata influenza B lines are common strains of human influenza viruses. So far, only three-strains vaccines have been available in China.
Last winter there was a surge in influenza infections in northern China. It is reported that the incidence of influenza among children has sharply increased, leading to crowded hospitals.
