China still remains in the list of countries with mostly unfree economy

Almaty. February 16. Silkroadnews – China ranks 111th in the Index of economic freedom and remains “mostly unfree”, according to the Heritage Foundation.

“China’s economy remains “mostly unfree,” and there is little momentum for reform. Despite a nominal openness to trade and investment, bureaucratic hurdles and resistance from vested interests in the state sector are substantial barriers to more dynamic economic development”, the report says.

According to the rating, China scored 57.4 points and was listed among the countries with “mostly unfree economy”, accompanied by Belarus (ranking 104th), Tajikistan (109th), Russia (114th) and Uzbekistan (148th).

The list of countries with “moderately free economies” includes Kazakhstan (raking 42nd), Belarus (89th), Azerbaijan (68th), Turkey (60th).

Among the states with repressed economy there are Ukraine (166th), Turkmenistan (170th) and Afghanistan (163rd) included.

The list of countries whose economies are considered as “mostly free” includes Estonia (ranking 6th), UAE (8th), Lithuania (16th), Georgia (13th) and Latvia (20th).

The economies of Hong Kong, Singapore and New Zealand are in the top free within the rating, the most repressed economies are the ones of Cuba, Venezuela and North Korea.
