China successfully tested military unmanned aerial system
Almaty. January 3. Silkroadnews - China has successfully tested military unmanned aerial system, the Global Times reported.
“The record of “five hits in succession” performed by China’s home-developed Wing Loong II UAS, a high-end reconnaissance-strike unmanned aerial system (UAS), showed that the system equipped drone is combat-capable and will be widely used in future military actions,” the report says.
During several rounds of tests, the Wing Loong II UAS has fired targets with eight types of missiles and dozens of bombs with a 100% accuracy hit rate.
“Successful tests over different terrains with different types of missiles and bombs showed that the Wing Loong II is equipped to effectively handle combat operations,” the agency quoted Song Zhongping, a Chinese military expert, saying.
Song also added that with number of drones used in military actions growing, the Wing Loong II will also be used in China’s military operations, especially in anti-terrorism, peacekeeping and border patrolling operations.
Reportedly within 10 months of tests after the first flight in February 2017, the system successfully hit both stationary and moving targets. In addition, the Wing Loong II UAS has successfully conducted simultaneous operations with a single ground station.
In December, Li Yidong, deputy chief designer of CADI, said in a television broadcast by China Central Television that an unmanned aerial system had successfully hit a moving target that the US drone had failed to hit for 8 years.
“However, after China completes its global navigation satellite system, we will soon develop a true global combat capability,” Song said and added that the development of the WAS Loong II UAS is also a reflection of military and civil integration, as it could be widely used in field research during natural disasters.
