China to allocate $250 million to Tajikistan for parliamentary complex construction

Almaty. July 19. Silkroadnews – China will provide Tajikistan with $250 million for the construction of a parliamentary complex, Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reports on Wednesday.
“The new building of the parliament of Tajikistan will be built with China’s $250-million grant”, Jamshed Ahmadzoda, the head of the Committee for Architecture and Urban Development of the Republic of Tajikistan told journalists in Dushanbe on Wednesday.
According to him, the work has already started on project designing.
“We are given a non-repayable loan. In case the building is constructed by the Chinese company, 80% of the workers will be hired among the Tajiks”, J. Ahmadzoda said.
The head of the committee added, the construction of a new parliamentary complex will start before the end of the year.
To remind, the new parliamentary complex of Tajikistan will be built on the place of premises of the ministry of agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan, Dushanbe’s mayor office, Iranian embassy and several residential buildings.
The object will be located on 6 hectares from intersection of the Tehran street and Rudaki avenue (Dusti square) to intersection of Rudaki avenue with Shohtemur street (“Tajikistan” hotel district).
Earlier, the media reported the new parliamentary complex in Dushanbe to be built using $200-million grant by Saudi Arabia. However, later, the official Riyadh denied this, saying no agreements on construction of the parliamentary complex with the government of Tajikistan were not made.
