Almaty. April 3. Silkroadnews – By 2025 China plans to create a global satellite broadband Internet access system, which will include orbiting satellite constellation consisting of 156 small satellites, the newspaper “People’s Daily” writes.

According to CASIC corporation's spokesman, use of low-orbit group of small satellites is expected to significantly reduce the cost of spacecraft developing and launching, as well as contribute to ensuring uninterrupted communications. The grouping of satellites, to be allocated at an altitude of 1 thousand km, will provide customers with 26.5-40 GHz range communication services.

The China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation reported, this will be the country’s first system based on small low-orbit satellites, with good prospects for commercial use.

The project named “Hongyun” is to be implemented in three phases: launch of the first experimental satellite is planned until 2018, in 2020 the orbiting satellite constellation should include four apparatuses and start providing services in a trial order, and at the end of the 14th five-year plan (2021 - 2025) the system should be fully operational.
