China to fight fraud in electronic commerce
Beijing. May 23. Silkroadnews - China will strengthen its fight against click farms, malicious reviews and fake sales transactions in the field of electronic commerce, People’s Daily reports.
More severe punishment will be applied for fraudulent practices, e.g. the company could be put on a black list, and, if not adjust the violation in due time, its social rating could be reduced or accounts closed.
China has developed a draft law on electronic commerce in 2016. This June the draft will be considered by the national legislature for the third time.
China is the world’s largest e-commerce market. Last year online store sales grew 32.2% year-on-year reaching 7.18 trillion yuan ($1.12 trillion).
To remind, a click farm is a form of click fraud, where a large group of low-paid workers are hired to click on paid advertising links for the click fraudster to create the appearance of effectiveness. It is extremely difficult for an automated filter to detect this simulated traffic as fake because the visitor behavior appears exactly the same as that of an actual legitimate visitor.
