China to inevitably take control of Taiwan: expert says

Almaty. December 27. Silkroadnews - China will inevitably take Taiwan under its control, Liu Junchuan, head of the liaison office of the mainland’s policymaking Taiwan Affairs Office, said.
“The swift development and massive changes in the mainland of the motherland are creating an increasingly strong attraction for the people of Taiwan,” Liu said.
With this he noted that Beijing’s growing economic, political and diplomatic strength underlines its ability to take Taiwan under its control.
“Beijing has never renounced the use of force to bring what it considers a wayward province and sacred Chinese territory under its rule,” the report reads.
“The contrast in power across the Taiwan Strait will become wider and wider, and we will have a full, overwhelming strategic advantage over Taiwan. The economic, political, social, cultural and military conditions for achieving the complete reunification of the motherland will become even more ample,” Liu added.
According to him, the concept of peaceful reunification “one country, two systems” will become even more attractive to the people of Taiwan, and external foreign forces will not be able to stop it.
Taiwan, in its turn, accuses Beijing of being undemocratic and claims that only residents of Taiwan can decide the future of the island.
Relations between Beijing and Taipei deteriorated after Tsai Ing-wen won the last year’s presidential election and Beijing suspected that she wants to push for the island’s independence. Tsai states she wants peace with the mainland, but will protect the security and democracy of Taiwan.
The mainland China has become more active in its military drills around Taiwan and tried to isolate Taiwan from its few remaining diplomatic allies.
