Almaty. October 2. Silkroadnews – China will ensure fuel for electricity and heating in winter, South China Morning Post reported.
“The Chinese government has issued an order to ensure stable supplies of coal, oil and gas as the country heads into the winter amid a coal supply crunch,” the report reads.
It is noted that the National Development and Reform Commission has stated that it would ensure a rational level of reserves to guarantee stable supplies at key moments and in key areas for electricity generation. According to the commission, it is necessary to focus on solving problems and difficulties in important regions and efforts to be put to ensure the supply of coal for heating in winter.
The northeast industrial center of China could run into reduction in electricity and heating supplies this winter as Chinese authorities refused to request the provinces to help ensure the supply of coal, and two major mines were forced to stop production, utilities warned last month.
The closing of the mines is part of the government’s concerted effort to fight ever-stronger winter smog in industrial centers, especially in northern China, where temperatures fall during the winter months.
The National Meteorological Center said on Sunday that the cold front has already caused strong winds and temperature changes from four to six degrees Celsius in parts of Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia.
In the first three days of the national holiday, cold air is forecasted to affect a significant part of China, including the northern, central and eastern regions, and in some northern regions a temperature drop of more than 10 degrees is expected.
