Almaty. September 21. Silkroadnews – The Chinese government will strengthen efforts to prosecute the fugitive officials and return their illegally acquired property from abroad, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lu Kang stated on Tuesday, Chinese media reported.

Recently, with the support by the French side, the corruption suspect Chen Wenhua was returned to China, and became the first fugitive extradited from France after the Chinese-French treaty on extradition entered into force in 2015.

«This is a significant breakthrough in the prosecution of fugitive suspects hiding in France», Lu Kang said, adding that this is also another successful extradition of fugitive Chinese corrupt official from a European country after the extradition of Chinese "refugees" from Italy and Spain.

Lu Kang also noted, the Chinese government pays great attention to international cooperation in the prosecution of fugitive officials and return of their illegally acquired property from abroad, and has already achieved considerable results in this direction.
