China to strengthen its position in robot components manufacturing

Almaty. May 23. Silkroadnews – Within the next two to three years China plans to achieve import substitution in production of the main components of robots, the appropriate provision has been included into the draft of the national strategy “Made in China” designed for the period throughout 2025, the Chinese media writes.
“We are aimed at increasing China’s market share in domestic servomotors, retarder devices and control panels to more than 30%”, the expert on the Advanced Manufacturing Strategy Advisory Committee Qu Xianming said.
With this he also added, the produced components should be of sufficient quality to compete with similar ones in foreign markets. At present the most of these components are imported to China from Japan, the EU states and US, which increases the cost of Chinese robot manufacturers’ products and reduces their competitiveness.
“Chinese manufacturers have to spend four times as much as their foreign counterparts to acquire retarders and double the overpay when acquiring servo motors”, the White Paper of the China’s IT Development Center said.
By 2020 China intends to increase production of industrial robots to 100 thousand from 72 thousand of last year.
