Almaty. September 4. Silkroadnews - China will execute a program to reduce the military contingent by 300 thousand people by the end of 2017, reports the newspaper "People's Daily".
"The current reduction of military contingent aims to curb the number, increase the efficiency of the Chinese army and optimize the structure of the army",- said in a statement referring to the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of China Yang Yujun.
According to the report, the focus of future work will be on the reduction of troops from obsolete military equipment, reducing the number of employees and non-combat unit composition.
It will be the fourth round of downsizing of the Army of China since 1980.
