Almaty. October 26. Silkroadnews – China will not aim to double its GDP from 2021, Reuters reported.
“China will not set a target to double gross domestic product (GDP) from 2021, as top leaders pledge to focus on better quality economic growth in the long term. Yang Weimin, vice minister of the Office of the Central Leading Group on Financial and Economic Affairs, told a news conference,” the report said.
It is noted that the government will not only pursue economic growth, but will also emphasize the quality of the growth.
China seeks to double its GDP and per capita income by 2020 from the 2010 level, and growth observed shows the goal will be achieved.
Speaking at the opening of the National Congress of the Communist Party this week, President Xi Jinping said that China will deepen economic and financial reforms and further open its markets to foreign investors, as it seeks to move from high-speed to high-quality growth.
Xi set bold long-term development goals for China, foreseeing it as a modernized socialist country by 2035 and a modern socialist strong power with leading influence on the world stage by 2050.
