China will supply Uzbekistan with freight locomotives for $45 million

Silkroadnews - A consortium of Chinese CNTIC and CNR DLRC signed with the State Joint-Stock Railway Company "Uzbekistan Railways" contract to supply 10 electric freight locomotives worth $45 million, reported to the Uzbek Telegraph Agency (UzTAG) on Thursday, Chairman of the Board "Uzbekistan Railways" Achilboy Romatov.
"The supplied engines will be used, in particular, on the new line linking the center of Uzbekistan with its eastern part", - said A.Romatov. Term of supply - by the end of 2015. Contract will be financed by a loan from the Chinese Eximbank.
Recall that in December 2013 a consortium of Chinese CNTIC and CNR DLRC completed the delivery of 11 freight locomotives for "Uzbekistan Railways". Financing contract worth $44.4 million through a loan of Chinese Eximbank in the amount of $ 42 million and equity of SJSRC.
Over the past ten years "Uzbekistan Railways" made a purchase 23 trucks and 15 passenger locomotives from China worth about $150 million. In Uzbekistan, with the total length of railway lines in the 4.2 thousand km electrified about 1.1 thousand km. The railroad Uzbekistan accounts for about 60% of turnover in the country and almost 80% of the total export and import of cargo.
