Chinas’ school canteens to be equipped with surveillance cameras to monitor the cooking process

Almaty. April 3. Silkroadnews – China’s Ministry of Education released a document recommending to equip schools’ canteens and lunch rooms with video surveillance cameras to monitor the entire cooking process, as well as to improve the situation with food safety, Xinhua news agency reported.

As noted, probability of food poisoning and infectious diseases increases due to warm weather, thus, schools should be more careful when buying ingredients and preparing food, the document says.

The products must have clear labels specifying the producer’s name and production date, use of expired products is prohibited, the document says.

According to the document, heads of educational institutions should be responsible for any incidents in the field of food safety.

It also requires educational institutions to monitor the health of students by conducting daily checks. Schools should also carry out educational campaigns on food safety, disease prevention and control among the students.
