Chinese companies’ consortium modernizes coal production at two coal fields in Uzbekistan

Almaty. April 21. Silkroadnews – A consortium of Chinese companies modernizes production at two coal fields in Uzbekistan, Uzbek Telegraph Agency (UzTAG) reports.

“The consortium of Chinese companies “China Coal Technology & Engineering Group Corp” (CCTEG) and “China Railway Tunnel Group Co.” modernizes production at the Baysun and Shargunskoye coal fields in the Surkhandarya region," the report said.

To implement the project, as it is noted, this May Uzbekistan plans to sign a loan agreement with the Chinese “Eximbank” for around $90 million, the rest $5 million will be raised by the Uzbek side.

The project provides for the replacement of current mining technology. The total explored reserves of these deposits are estimated at 45.8 million tonnes of coal.

The investment project is expected to be implemented as of June this year.
