Beijing. June 12. Silkroadnews - Chinese companies have secured a dominant presence at the 2018 World Cup that opens in Russia on Thursday, which, according to experts, is a move to raise the awareness on Chinese international brands and optimize their strategies, Global Times reports.
Seven Chinese brands, including Dalian Wanda, manufacturer of Vivo phones, manufacturer of Hisense equipment and dairy company Mengniu, are among the sponsors of Russia in 2018.
This is much more than in 2014, when there was only one Chinese company, the supplier of solar panels Yingli Solar, received the rights to sponsor the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Wanda, which is the first and only Chinese company to become one of the FIFA Partners, has the highest level of sponsorship rights and is estimated to have paid at least $120 million for these rights. Other Chinese companies, including Hisense, Vivo and Mengniu, pay at least $68 million each to get the rights to sponsorship of the second level.
“Sponsorship is just the first step. Companies should also make clear their global market position, what featured products they want to promote, and what follow-up activities they are going to launch,” the agency quoted Zhang Jiayuan, a partner at Beijing-based Ransenhuizhi Investment Fund Management Co.
