Chinese company completed first dredging project at Black Sea port of Ukraine

Beijing. February 1. Silkroadnews - The Chinese company completed the first dredging project at the Black Sea port of Ukraine, the Global Times reported.
“The Beijing-based China Harbor Engineering Company (CHEC) has completed the first dredging project at Ukraine’s Black Sea port of Yuzhny. Under the project, the Chinese company has deepened the 25th approach channel of the port to 16 meters, three months ahead of the schedule,” the report said.
Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan noted the project will strengthen Ukraine’s role on the modern Silk Road.
“Today, China is a strategic partner for Ukraine, and we are ready to develop cooperation in all areas. Therefore, for me, it is very important that the Chinese companies are currently participating in the development of Ukraine’s state ports’ infrastructure,” the agency quoted Omelyan saying.
Meanwhile, the head of the Sea Ports Authority of Ukraine, Rayvis Veckagans, said the dredging project will contribute significantly to the development of the Ukrainian economy in general and the port industry in particular.
The CHEC has begun work to deepen the 25th approach channel of the port in July 2017. Initially the work completion was scheduled for March 2018, but were completed on January 27, three months ahead of the schedule.
