Beijing. June 12. Silkroadnews - Chinese consumers have become more confident in autonomous technologies, Xinhua reports.
About 74% of consumers in China believe that fully autonomous vehicles (AV) are safe, compared to 38% in 2017, the recent study by Global Automotive Consumer Study released by global audit and consulting firm Deloitte shows.
Consumers in the Asia-Pacific region rely more on driverless cars compared to those in many other large markets around the world, and the greatest level of trust is with Chinese consumers, as surveyed by more than 22,000 consumers in 17 countries. The significant improvement in an automotive market as large as China could position the country as a leader in the adoption of fully autonomous technology among major automotive markets, the report said.
Chinese companies, both in the Internet and in the automotive sector, have stepped up their investment in the development of AV technologies and products.
As the poll showed, consumers in China have more confidence in new companies specializing in AV technologies than in original equipment manufacturers trying to take a new place in the market. In China, 61% of consumers said that as their next vehicle they would prefer an electric car or a car with a hybrid engine.
