Chinese space station will be China’s largest laboratory in space

Almaty. March 9. Silkroadnews - The space station, which China plans to build by around 2020, will be the largest China’s laboratory in space, the member of the CPPCC, chief designer of China’s manned space program Zhou Jianping said, Xinhua reports.
“The space station will allow scientists to conduct research in the advanced fields of science, research and space technology development of space resources,” – he said.
It is noted, the research equipment for more than 10 areas of science, including biology, material engineering, fundamental physics will be installed on the station.
At the same time, he added, by around 2020 China plans to complete building of three space station modules: one is the crew habitability module and another two are the laboratory modules. The tonnage of each module shall make 20 tons, the station will be built in “T” letter shape.
Zhou Jianping said the habitability module will be equipped with five ports that will mate the space ferry vehicle, two ships on people delivery, and two laboratory modules. A separate access hatch is also provided to allow the astronauts going out of module.
“Further on the Chinese space station can be expanded and mated with additional modules as appropriate,” – the expert said.
