Construction of direct motor road connecting Almaty and Issuk-Kul to start in 2018
Almaty. May 31. Silkroadnews – Construction of Almaty-Cholpon-Ata highway will start in 2018, Kylychbek Dosumbetov, press secretary of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Transport and Roads, said, KyrTAG reports.
“The construction of the Almaty-Cholpon-Ata highway will be resumed next year. The project’s feasibility study is ready. Soon we will start working over the design estimates. This year the Kyrgyz side will complete its site designing. It is planned to build two bridges and a road to connect to the Bishkek-Naryn-Torugart highway. This is a 92km site”, K. Dosumbetov said on Wednesday.
According to him, a new road is planned to be built through the Kastek Pass, reducing the distance between the cities by 140 km.
“Kazakhstan has already started designing the construction of the highway. As soon as Kazakhstan starts construction, Kyrgyzstan will begin construction of its 3km site. The cost of the project on our part is $3 million”, K. Dosumbetov added.
