Construction of the Chinese part of China-Mongolia EСZ to be completed in 2018

Almaty. September 20. Silkroadnews – Construction of the China-Mongolian cross-border economic cooperation zone to be completed in 2018, site of «People's Daily» reports.
  
«Zone with a total area of 18-square-km will be located along the Chinese-Mongolian border between the Chinese city of Erenhot (Autonomous Region of Inner Mongolia) and the Mongolian town of Zamyn-Uud. Total investments in the construction of the Chinese part of the zone is expected to amount to 900 million yuan ($135 million) and will include construction of 33.5 kilometers of roads, water and heating facilities, power lines and communication facilities. The construction works are expected to be completed in 2018», the publication says.

As for the Mongolian side, the infrastructure construction has been completed there. It is noted that the construction of infrastructure facilities on the Chinese side began on September 19.

China and Mongolia signed the agreement on the zone construction in May of this year. According to the plan, the China-Mongolian economic cooperation zone will serve as an open platform of cooperation in such areas as international trade, logistics, warehousing, handling export and import of products, e-commerce, tourism and entertainment, as well as in international financial services.

The China-Mongolian cross-border economic cooperation zone is expected to facilitate the construction of China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor, the three-way channel to develop the transport and communication interconnection between the three countries, as well as economic cooperation in the border areas.
