Beijing. April 3. Silkroadnews - According to the Beijing Winter Olympics organizing committee, the construction of objects for the Olympic Games is on schedule, China Plus reports.
The spending has not yet confirmed, and projects of some facilities are still being discussed with international federations, however, preparations for the Olympic Games proceed as planned. Liu Yumin, a member of the planning and construction department of the organizing committee, noted the importance of such operation facilities as residential buildings in the Olympic village and parking to the west of the national speed skating stadium.
“These facilities won’t serve the Olympics directly and the related spending is excluded from the total investment. The infrastructure, like high-speed railways, airports, highways and some public facilities are the projects funded by government or companies for the city’s development,” the agency quoted Liu saying.
During the 2022 Olympic Games Beijing will use 26 objects in three zones and host 13 venues, including 8 built for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, four newly-built and one temporary venue.
The construction of the national speed skating stadium in the Olympic Park near the tennis court built for the 2008 Olympic Games began in April last year and will be completed by the end of 2019. The stadium area is 80 thousand square meters; its capacity is 12 thousand people.
“We’re trying to control the investment according to the bidding budget we promised,” said Wu Xiaonan, director of the board of directors at the Beijing National Speed Skating Company. “The oval will become a sports center with facilities for competitions, fitness, leisure, exhibitions and public welfare.”
