Croatia advocates NATO further expansion and promised support for candidates for membership
Beijing. Jul 30. Silkroadnews - Croatia advocated further expansion of NATO and promised support for candidates for accession, the Kazakh Telegraph Agency (KazTAG) reports with reference to Kommersant.
Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said, every country should decide for itself, and none should be ordered to join NATO. The will of those who refused it shall be respected. But for those countries that want to join NATO, Croatia we will do everything possible in terms of both political support and support in meeting the criteria necessary for accession.
She also assured that NATO expansion is in no way directed against Russia.
According to her, Russia is not perceived as an enemy. She considers the Euro-Atlantic integration of all countries of south-eastern Europe, (or Western Balkans, as some say), as a necessary condition for peace, stability and prosperity within the region. It is a platform where everyone can sit at the same table and talk with each other before the problems turn into mutual aggression.
To remind, Croatia has been a member of NATO since 2009. Now the alliance includes 29 states. Macedonia is another country that want to join the alliance and has already started due negotiations with NATO.
