Cross-border trade in Tibet reached 3.73 billion yuan in Q1

Beijing. May 15. Silkroadnews - In the first quarter of 2018, the total trade in the border area in Tibet reached 3.7302 million yuan, which is 3.3 times higher than in the same period last year, Tibetol.cn reports.
There are mainly four aspects behind the cross-border trade growth. The one is that during the spring holidays of 2018 and the Tibetan New Year, the demand for holiday products such as butter, instant food, Tibetan incense, candy, etc., grows. Another aspect is that the demand for daily necessities, such as hair dye, soap, toothpaste, etc., grows from year to year. The other two aspects are the gradual improvement of the border checkpoint infrastructure and further simplification of customs procedures.
Due to the rise in temperature and opening of seasonal checkpoints in May, including Pulan and Yadong, the cross-border trade of the Tibet Autonomous Region is expected to continue growing in Q2. The Lhasa Customs will further optimize the process of customs regulation, improve quality of services and trading environment, expand trading space for cross-border trade and reduce the cost of customs clearance.
