Almaty. March 16. Silkroadnews - Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolai Bordyuzha said the need to expand cooperation with Iran in the fight against drug trafficking and extremism, reported the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Monday.
"Security Service of Iran is very effective in the fight against drug trafficking, and the results of their activity is higher than the security forces of the CIS in this area", - said Bordyuzha, adding that the relevant services of the CSTO and Iran have carried out joint operations against drug traffickers.
In this case, the secretary general is convinced that the potential for cooperation with Iran is far from exhausted.
"We can work effectively in stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan, the exchange of operational information on extremist activities in the region and many others, because Iran is an effective player in terms of security in the region", - he added.
Meanwhile, according to some sources, in December 2014. Iran and the CSTO started negotiations about a possible accession of Iran in this regional organization as a full member.
