Cuba and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding

Almaty. August 23. Silkroadnews – Cuba and Iran have signed the first ever memorandum of understanding to boost development of trade relations between the two countries, TASS reports.  

The agreement has been reached during Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif's visit to the Caribbean state.

The memorandum was signed on the results of the first economic forum two countries held. The sides noted the good level of bilateral relations with Cuba implementing its economic reforms and seeking to attract foreign investment.

«We are interested to develop cooperation in various fields, especially in technologies and energy», Iranian diplomat said.

M. Zarif also stressed the concurrence of two countries' positions on key international issues and noted the strength of political relations between the two countries that «have shown the great northern neighbor (the U.S.) that it is impossible to break the resistance based on the idea».

During the meeting Javad Zarif expressed Iran's interest in enhancing relations with Latin America, thus, after Cuba, he also plans to visit other countries in the region – Nicaragua, Ecuador, Chile, Venezuela and Bolivia.
