Delegates at the 19th Congress of the Communist Party of China can expect austere treatment with no luxury
Almaty. October 16. Silkroadnews – Delegates at the 19th Congress of the Communist Party of China can expect austere treatment with no luxury, according to publication by the Singapore newspaper The Straits Times.
“No free fruit in hotel rooms, no free haircuts and no prawns on the menu - delegates at this week's Communist Party Congress in China can expect austere treatment in keeping with President Xi Jinping's pledge to crack down on corruption and extravagance,” the report said.
It is noted that part of Xi Jinping’s fight against corruption is to ensure that officials do not abuse their positions and not waste public money.
This time there will be no large welcoming banners and bouquets of flowers, as in previous years, sea cucumbers and prawns will be excluded from the menu, and delegates will not be getting any free beauty treatments.
As the publication reminds, Xi Jinping is adherent to a simple way of life, preferring simple food while traveling around the country and “giving extensive coverage to cases where officials are found to have hoarded gold, owned multiple houses or had a fondness for banquets.”
