EEU called for development of cooperation with China within framework of “economic belt of Silk Road”, head of Russian Federation stated

Almaty. June 23. Silkroadnews – The EEU members speak for the development of cooperation with China within the framework of “economic belt of the Silk Road”, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his interview to Cai Mingzhao, president of Xinhua News Agency.

“Recently in Astana with my colleagues within the Eurasian Economic Union that unites five countries discussed this possibility, and we all spoke for the development of our cooperation with China within the framework of initiative by the chairman Xi Jinping on development of “economic belt of the Silk Road””, Vladimir Putin said.

The head of the Russian state noted the significant steps currently undertaken to improve the trade structure, diversify trade relations and increase the level of cooperation in high-tech area. The cooperation also strengthens in such areas as aerospace, energy, humanism, foreign policy, military affairs, and infrastructure construction.

According to Putin, the “economic belt of the Silk Road” initiative is very timely, interesting and promising and is aimed to expand the cooperation with all the countries throughout the world.

Regarding the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, President of Russia has noted, the expansion of areas explored and increase in the number of members make this organization a very powerful international union, highly respected and popular in the region and around the world.

“In addition to working together within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, we also cooperate together within BRICS, which, in fact, we have also created together, we actively cooperate at the UN. Our views on international affairs, as diplomats say, are very close or even coincide,” the head of the Russian state said.
