Energy consumption in Uzbekistan could be reduced by 25% by 2030

Almaty. May 4. Silkroadnews - Energy consumption in Uzbekistan can be reduced by almost 25% by 2030, states the Ministry of Economy of the Republic, informs UzTAG.
"In the framework of the projects, implemented in the country to improve energy efficiency, can be achieved energy saving in 6.85 million tons of oil equivalent (toe) in 2030", - said in a statement referring to the materials posted on the ministry's website on Monday.
In turn, the increase in the share of renewable energy in the national energy balance to 20% by 2030, will allow the saving of fuel and energy resources in the amount of 3.28 million toe
In particular, the construction of solar power plants, combined with traditional sources of electricity production, will allow at most conservative estimates (until 2030) to save up to 1.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, and further develop only at the expense of solar energy not less than 5 billion kWh of electricity per year.
According to official data, in Uzbekistan until the end of 2030 the demand for energy will increase by 25.5% compared to the year 2013 and will reach about 43.5 million toe while maintaining GDP growth at 8-8.5% annually. According to the calculations of the Uzbek side, the potential of renewable energy in Uzbekistan is about 51 billion tons of oil equivalent, technical capacity - 179.8 billion toe.
