EU and CA agreed to cooperate in the field of security

Almaty. March 12. Silkroadnews - The European Union and Central Asian countries agreed to cooperate in the field of security, reported the European External Action Service.
"Tajikistan held the second dialogue on a high level of security between the European Union and the countries of Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan). Afghanistan has been invited as a special guest",- said the service.
As noted, the meeting was chaired by the Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service Helga Schmid. Among the participants were the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Alexey Volkov, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan - Erinest Otorbaev, Tajikistan - Zohid Nizomiddin Shamsiddinzon, Afghanistan - Hekmat Karzai, as well as representatives of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The participants exchanged views on a number of key safety issues related to the EU, Central Asia and Afghanistan. They discussed security issues, migration, and regional stability and security associated with the fight against drug trafficking and smuggling. It was agreed to intensify joint efforts between the EU and Central Asian states in all these areas, as well as enhancing regional cooperation between Afghanistan and Central Asia.
Thus, the participants agreed to strengthen cooperation in preventing the proliferation of CBRN material by opening a regional center in Tashkent in the spring of this year; border management and the fight against drug trafficking, as well as in the field of migration, in particular, due to the activation of participation of Central Asia in studying the experience under the mechanism in the field of migration the EU (Mieux) and Prague process between the EU and third countries, which is currently chaired by Poland. Also, the participants agreed to develop new forms of cooperation between experts of the EU and the Central Asian states in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism in Brussels in March, as well as in Bishkek in May; facilitate the participation of the Central Asian countries in the activities of the center Hedaya in Abu Dhabi to counter violent extremism.
